Effective January 1, 2025, WVDL will charge an afterhours drop-off fee for all whole body necropsy that arrive outside of normal business hours (7:45AM – 4:30PM M-F). This afterhours fee will be based on weight of the animal body, and are as follows:
- 1-50 pounds: $50
- 51-150 pounds: $100
- >150 pounds: $250
Additional important information:
- For all large animals (>150 pounds) that will arrive for drop-off outside of normal business hours, WVDL must be contacted during business hours to schedule the drop-off.
- For small companion animals, the Small Animal Emergency Service at the UW Veterinary Health Center can accept the animal body.
- All submissions MUST be accompanied by a fully completed submission form, including the submitting DVM’s signature and selection of disposition of the carcass remains. For any animal having cremation selected for disposition of the remains, a cremation order form must be submitted within 1 business day of drop off (as instructed on the current Necropsy Submission Form: https://www.wvdl.wisc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/FM-CL-SUB-41-WVDLNecropsySubmissionForm.pdf). Bodies that do not have this form provided will be disposed of by the lowest cost method following current regulations and guidelines.
